A compelling tale of ambition, hedonism, betrayal, seamanship and tragedy, the Mutiny on the Bounty saw Christian lead a rebellion against Bligh, with the mutineers refusing to leave the Pacific paradise of Tahiti. Bligh and those remaining loyal were cut adrift in a 7-metre boat, with Bligh managing to traverse nearly 7,000km over 47 days to reach the East Indies. Some of the mutineers settled in Tahiti, and some settled on what became the Pitcairn Islands – the territory officially authorising the release of this unique legal tender coin!
